Research Activities

CELGA’s research, developed under the general line THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE: SYNCHRONY, DIACHRONY AND CONTACT (with Professor Clarinda Maia as Principle Investigator), is divided into 4 sub-projects.

These sub-projects (and coordinators) are:

  • The History of the Language and Linguistic Awareness (Professor Clarinda Maia)

  • Creole Linguistics (Professor John Holm)

  • Grammar and Discourse (Professor Graça Rio-Torto)

  • Linguistics and Teaching (Professor Ana Cristina M. Lopes) Linguística e Ensino

During the 2003-2006 period, CELGA’s research was organized in a different manner. The previous model was structured in 7 projects (coordinators are also indicated):
