Yitzhak Laor
Yitzhak Laor was born in 1948. He studied literature and theatre at the University of Tel Aviv. He is involved in organizations that promote solidarity between Israelis and Palestinians. He is an editor at the daily newspaper, Ha'aretz. He has published ten books, among which are Night in a Foreign Hotel, which won the Bernstein Prize in 1993, and The People, Food Fit for Kings, which won the Israeli Literature Prize in 1994. His last novel, And With My Spirit, My Corpse, won the Moses Prize. Soon after this, he published a poetry book, as nothing (1999) and a novel, Ecce Homo [both were translated into German]. In 2004, he published Leviatahn City, which won him the Yehuda Amichai Award 2007. Vered, a book of short stories, was published in 2006, and, in 2007, My son shall stand up (poems). During this time he was active in anti-government activities and in promoting solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for freedom. He lost his job at Tel Aviv University, but keeps on working.

Raquel Chalfi
Was born in Israel. Her first book of poetry, Underwater & Other Poems, was published in 1975. Since then she has published seven more poetry books: Free Fall; Chameleon or the Principle of Uncertainty; Matter; Love of the Dragon; Stowaway; Solar Plexus; Portrait of Father & Daughter. Her poetry has been translated to several languages. Her writing has won literary awards, both in Israel and abroad. Raquel Chalfi has been involved also in documentary & experimental film-making (writing & directing), and in journalistic & creative work in the radio. Her work in these fields has won awards both in Israel and abroad. Her plays have also won awards, both in and out of Israel.
