Alda Espírito Santo
Was
born in São Tomé e Príncipe, studying
and taking her degree in Portugal. She returned to São
Tomé where she works as a teacher, and has worked for
the government in areas of Education and Culture. She has
been a member of Parliament and President of the National
Assembly. Presently she is the president of the Forum of Women
of São Tomé e Príncipe. As a poet, she
has published É Nosso o Solo Sagrado da Terra.
Olinda
Beja
Was
born in São Tomé e Príncipe in 1946,
and has lived in Portugal for many years. She teaches secondary
school. She took her degree in Portuguese and French at the
University of Oporto. Her novel is called 15 Dias do Regresso.
Her books of Poetry include Bô Tendê?, Leve,
Leve, Leve and No País do Tchilóli (1996).
