Remarks"The Obscure History of East Timor" is the work of a group of history students of the University of Coimbra, initiated in 1994 and elected for the discipline of "Computerized Methods and Formal Approaches to Historical Investigation".
Due to the importance and exigency of such matter and in the context of the crescent internationalization of the case of East Timor, it's our wish to extend the development of the initiative, gradually in the course of our studies, and under the supervision of professor Dr. Ramos de Carvalho, without whom the project wouldn't be possible up from the beginning.
So far recognized by the rectory of this University, we count as well with the incentive of our future professors to carry out this project.
As proper to a work in these moulds, text, images and structural details are subject to changes.
This work is divided in two parts. The second deals with the conflict, which is likable to be what everybody first aknowledges about East Timor. But we meant to go further, so the first part will hopefully cover the varsious features of East Timor, that may eventually interest specialists in the different areas of history, geology, ethnology, etc. That is our aim Ñ to motivate in our viewers the desire to know better about this surprising nation that has remained in coma for almost two decades.
In reference to each topic, we pretend to show a clip of images, besides a bibliographic database that we're working on. As an important complement, we remit our viewers to another work related with East Timor that gathers a serie of international contacts of people and organizations.
